- Tafsir, Hifz practice, and a full reader in one app.

Aalim (عالم) is a mobile app for learning the Quran that pairs traditional Islamic scholarship with AI. Alongside a full Quran reader — authentic Uthmani script, multiple reciters, search, and offline access — it adds an AI layer: tap any ayah for its tafsir, or record a recitation and let an AI Hifz assistant check it against the text and flag what to fix.
A calm, focused reader
Authentic Uthmani script in a clean reader — a choice of reciters including Al-Husary and Al-Afasy, search by keyword or ayah number, bookmarks and highlights for favorite ayahs, and surahs available offline.
Tafsir on any ayah
Choose any ayah and ask Aalim about its meaning — tafsir drawn from trusted sources including Ibn Kathir, Al-Tabari, Al-Jalalayn, and Al-Sa’di. Word meanings appear instantly on tap.
An assistant grounded in trusted sources
A smart assistant with a dedicated tajweed specialist mode: rules shown in color, a short explanation on tap for each one, and a single ayah or word repeated until the tajweed is right.
Daily goals, points, and a streak
Alem XP, daily goals, and streaks make consistent study feel rewarding — backed by a progress dashboard for ayahs read, time spent, surahs memorized, and tajweed mastery.
Set a Werd, and track it
Set up a Werd — a reading plan — to track reading and memorization together, with memorization progress broken down by surah, juz, and time spent.
Why Aalim stands out.
An AI Hifz assistant
Listens to a recitation and flags words that are missing, substituted, or incorrect, with short, clear corrections.
Tafsir from named sources
Ibn Kathir, Al-Tabari, Al-Jalalayn, and Al-Sa’di. Aalim states its tafsir content is reviewed and endorsed by trusted Islamic scholars.
Tajweed shown in color
Each rule colored in the text, with a short explanation on tap.
Reads offline
Surahs and tafsir available offline, for reading anywhere.
A personal notebook
Reflections on any ayah, organized automatically by surah and ayah.
Alongside a teacher, not instead of one
Aalim’s own stated goal: AI that guides, corrects, and explains — while the traditional teacher stays where they are.
